General Observatory is run by graphic designer / creative director Oliver Milner-Smith. It has always been free from the constraints of paid work, and a playground for graphic thinking and exploration.

The work focuses on colour, typography and a solid graphic vibe. It is drawn from observations on music, sport, society and anything that catches the imagination.

It has been a holistic journey to sell prints. Oliver has always loved creating poster artwork. And the idea of selling prints and posters has never been the endgame.

Having produced a few pieces of artwork for a couple of exhibitions, and curating several designs along the way - setting up an online shop seemed like a natural next step. Creating prints and artwork will always be a way to let off some “creative steam” and share personal musings.

General Observatory is a small team and we print our work on demand using high-quality digital and Giclée printing on fine art paper stock.

Framing

While we don’t handle the framing side of things (yet). We recommend that you get your prints framed professionally. We suggest float mounting the artwork on either a white or black frame. If you want an “off the shelf” frame - Google Nielsen Frames. Go for picture glass rather than plastic!

Regardless of how you frame the print - We always love to see them hanging, so please send us a pic.

Shipping

All our prints are made to order so orders will take a few days to process and make their way into the post. 

We don’t make any profit on our postage and packaging. If you have any questions about postage, please drop us a line and we will be glad to help.

UK
There is a choice for delivery. We recommend you go First-class recorded (you get insurance with that one!) and you can expect to receive your print between 5 and 10 working days after you’ve placed your order. 

Europe & Worldwide
We use Airmail Standard and it usually takes between 10-15 working days.

Returns

We want you to love your print but If for any reason you’re unhappy with anything, then please get in touch with us within 14 days of receiving your item. We can give a full refund assuming the item is returned in its original condition. Refunds will exclude the cost of postage.
